GW Lisner Auditorium presents
The Conga Kings: Candido Camero, Carlos 'Patato' Valdes & Giovanni Hidalgo

The Conga Kings are an 11-piece rumba group featuring three master congueros of Afro-Cuban music: Candido Camero, an 83 year-old living history of Cuban Music; Carlos "Patato" Valdes, crowned by Tito Puente as "the greatest conguero alive", and Giovanni Hidalgo, the modern fusion master.

Concerts are a celebration of modern rhythm and melody, of Jazz and Afro-Cuban sounds by the likes of Machito, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente and more.

"Hidalgo lightning fast, Candido ... rock solid and muscular, Patato a minimalist with an unerring ear" - DownBeat

"The Conga Kings bears repeated listening just to comprehend the nuanced interplay of this unrivaled percussive triumvirate." - Rhythm Magazine
